Stoke Poges United Charity (registered charity 205289) is a charity set up to help people suffering hardship or distress or otherwise in need. Grants of money can be given to individuals or organisations set up to help groups of people. The Charity can also provide or pay for goods, services or facilities for people in need.
Who We Can Help
We can only help people living in the village of Stoke Poges, Buckinghamshire, or in certain parts of Slough adjoining the village (please see map below). In exceptional circumstances the Charity may assist someone living outside this area or those only temporarily resident within the area.
How We Can Help
The ways in which the Charity can help are wide and varied, providing there is a clear need in each case which is reasonable in the circumstances, taking into account any help available from other sources. For example, contributions (in full or in part) towards the cost of:
...grants to relieve sudden distress ...travelling expenses for visiting people in hospitals and the like ...items such as furniture, bedding, clothing, fuel, heating appliances, washing machines and other household equipment ...services such as essential house repairs ...facilities such as the supply of tools, equipment or books ...fees for instruction or examinations ...adaptations to the homes of disabled people ...items such as medical or other aids, nursing requisites, invalid chairs for disabled, handicapped or infirm people ...services in the home for disabled, handicapped or infirm people (including gardening) ...facilities for disabled, handicapped or infirm people such as arrangements for a recuperative holiday or respite care to provide temporary relief for carers

Your application will be considered confidentially by the charity's Trustees, one of whom will contact you. It can take a few weeks to reach a decision but if there is an urgency, the trustees will respond as quickly as they can. Your application will be fully and sympathetically considered by the Trustees. Although Trustees will try to grant in full or in part an applicant’s request, its decisions are governed by the objects of the Charity laid down by the Charity Commissioners, policy issues and available funds. Decisions of the Trustees are final and discussion will not be entered into regarding individual cases.
